Young Justice and Austin powers look good! May have a quick read when I get the chance :D But probably agree about the lackluster of humour in the Austin Powers Fan Fiction ;/

I've never done drugs and I don't know much about them. All I know is that they're bad. Why does everyone say marijuana isn't bad for you, when its illegal? Why would the government ban it then?

Hey Jeremy,
I'm like Marcus I've never done drugs and wouldn't be able to tell you what any of the drugs were if you were to lay them down in front of me.
reading your trip over to Amsterdam has shocked me to read your own principal offered you marijuana LOL
I'm pleased to read that they've decreased the amount of drugs you're allowed to have at one time because I have seen 1St hand what drugs can do to you and then try and continue with you daily routine. It's not as awesome as one may say it is!

Web Page Analysis

Growing up in both New Zealand and Taiwan, where one of the co-founders of “Yahoo” is from, I have noticed something interesting about this incredibly useful site.

The Yahoo search engine is no doubt one of the first and largest search engines that was brought to the world in the early stages of internet development. When Yahoo was first introduced, it pretty much impacted anybody who used the internet. It was one of the first sites where there was a little box where you were able to search for anything you wanted. In the beginning, not only did it include this magical little box where people could search for information, it also had a feature where one is able to sign up for a totally free e-mail account that allowed people who didn't have Outlook or Hotmail to also have an email account.

Yahoo has a homepage for a county in that language for almost every county in the world. The largest differences between these homepages are of course the language it it written in. But the main focus here will be on the New Zealand Yahoo homepage. When clicked into the page, and taking a first glance, the slide-show in the MIDDLE of the page grabs your attention right away. The slide-shows are daily relevant news from New Zealand to global wide. And to the left of the slide-show, there is a whole bar of categories where you can choose and search for whatever you'd like. It is easy to conclude that this website is not only for daily news, but probably mostly for entertainment

This short, simple, clear, and orderly layout of news and categories is probably what makes this site so loved (Steven, 2011). Of course, the order of the news are according the magnitude of the news, and the categories on the left are according to alphabetical order. Although the site gives very simple headlines and everything is clear, the pictures on the New Zealand Yahoo homepage are not very eye catching. In comparison with the Taiwan Yahoo site, the New Zealand Yahoo page is not attractive at all. In the New Zealand page, there are only pictures of relevant news. But in the Taiwan Yahoo page, not only does it include pictures of relevant news, it also includes a section called the “Yahoo Auction” where the New Zealand page does not include this feature. In this Auction section, there are pictures of what items are on sale, and whats new. And if you keep scrolling down in the Taiwan Yahoo site, there are tabs where you only need to hover your cursor over and more pictures of celebrities, movies, or food. Basically there is a tab section with pictures about the categories I have mentioned earlier that are located on the left side of the New Zealand Yahoo site.

Why are these two same sites so different? This difference is made on purpose by Yahoo. The purpose of this is because New Zealand and Taiwan have different customer needs. Apparently, Taiwanese people pay more attention to the pictures rather than the words, and also have a high capacity to consume. Whereas in New Zealand, people are more concerned about news, sports, and travel. This culture difference is greatly shown simply by the difference of these two sites. Thus, the purpose and layout of the same Yahoo site may have some small deviations.

All in all, what I am impressed by the site is it's dedication through observation. Yahoo makes small or large changes according to their group of consumers. This is why Yahoo is such a success. It pays attention to what its customers needs are, and tries to fulfill them as best as they can. This incredibly successful site has brought a large amount on convenience to our lives. It is definitely a site that needs to stay alive until another more powerful site appears.

Introduction

If not already, most of you have heard that Amsterdam has a ridiculous, or what some say, an amazing policy against drugs such as marijuana. If you've only just found out now and feel this is crazy or awesome, you have yet to be introduced to another city also with fame, but not for its underground fame, but for its beautiful city, Prague. Now why would I say that this beautiful city has an obnoxious underground fame? And why should you believe me?

Freedom!

This topic has always been something I have wanted to share with people, simply because I want to share what I have seen while I was living in the Czech Republic. During the months I have spent in Czech Republic, I cannot describe how some things work over there. It's like living in a whole different universe. Although I have lived half my life in this pretty free country, New Zealand, and I have never thought I would go or see another city with more freedom than Amsterdam, I am still shocked by the Czech Republic culture.
So, before I arrived Czech Republic, my friend has been telling me how the Czech Republic has an incredibly free law on drug possession, and kept saying that I would have to see for myself to believe it. And he was correct. As I moved into my dormitory, everything seemed normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Soon, I gained some European friends, which then led to my European or should I say, the Czech Republic cultural education

A Shocker

Here's the amazing part. In my life, I thought I will never and EVER be asked if I have ever used marijuana during my stay, from my principal. Yes, my principal. She is a local Czech, and is the principal of the school I attended. One day, she asked me if I have ever used marijuana, in a cheerful delighted tone of voice. I was left speechless, utterly speechless. She followed on and told me that to the Czechs, marijuana is not even considered a drug, it is seen as an entertainment, nothing serious at all.
There is absolutely no reason to doubt my principal. I could smell drugs everywhere I went. On the streets no matter crowded or empty, in the big city Prague, night clubs, train stations, on trains, and even in the dormitory with dorm receptionist ladies guarding the front. It really REALLY seems like to the Czechs, drugs like marijuana or magic mushrooms are simply a pass time drug and nobody takes it serious.

Decriminalizing?

Only recently, The Czech Republic changed their policy for drug possession. Before 2009, the law only states that people are allowed “small amounts” of certain drugs. But on January 1st 2001, the “small amounts” has finally been changed and now has a definition and amount of “small amounts” one is allowed to carry. You are allowed to possess 15 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of cocaine, 4 tablets of ecstasy, and 1.5 grams of heroine, without any criminal charges. Anything more than that amount may be arrested and sent to court or receive a fine, but also may receive merely a warning from the police.
Authorities say that this law change is for the purpose of decriminalizing the use and possession of drugs. So does this mean people who will or might intake drugs increase? In concept, if this new law has really decriminalized drugs, more addicts and HIV/AIDS cases would increase. But according to Dr. Ivan Douda (2010), “one would expect their use would have increased, which hadn't happened. As for HIV/AIDS, of the 157 new HIV cases recorded last year, just four were intravenous drug users. 75% of hard drug users regularly came forward to get themselves tested.” Apparently, this change of law did not really decriminalize drug use. And situations remain the same in The Czech Republic.

To Conclude...

It is now a known fact that Czech's drug policies are much much more liberal than most of the other European policies. Tourists have now found a new place for them to “experience”. Now that people have realized how liberal The Czech Republic is, this place has become a new paradise for drug users. Some say that The Czech Republic is now the Amsterdam of the East, but is that really the case?
